Weather Conditions
The rainy season begins in the middle of October and extends to the end of April. During this season and particularly between December and April, local thunderstorms can be experienced, accompanied by heavy rain for periods of 3 to 4 hours. Sudden squalls with wind gusts of 75knots can be experienced. Wind speeds are generally not significant (less than 20 knots); strongest winds can be expected from the southwest quadrant.

During the dry season, generally May to September, a south-westerly swell affects the area. The long swell sometimes exceeds three knots. The current in Cabinda area is affected by the Congo River tidal flow, as well as heavy rain over the rain over the surrounding land area. Thus, particularly during the dry season, current setting to the south-southwest can be experienced.
